Gosia Lehmann //Edible workshop/Food Speculations

 20.06// 12pm//Neu Heimat, Revalerstras. 99// gosialehmann@yahoo.co.uk

During the workshop the participants would be encouraged to experiment with food as a tool, propose alternatives to existing conventions by taking a closer look at eating habits and food-form modifications. The aim of the workshop is to imagine the future food, referring to existing tendencies (such as super food or functional food). The final outcome would be combination of discussion and ‘hands on experiments’ which would result in ‘pop-up supper’ or little tasting event.

What does the word edible refer to? What can be ‘eaten’ what can not? Where are the borders of disgust or acceptance? What would be the taste of shame, trust or disappointment? How to communicate it using food? Food is an universal, common and essential part of everyones life. The act of eating involves and connects on highly emotional level. Offering someone a ‘bite’ is a matter of great trust and care, feeding develops the empathy, inviting someone for a dinner is very diplomatic gesture and often is suppose to ‘break the ice’ etc. During the workshop the participants would be encouraged to experiment with food as a tool, propose alternatives to existing conventions by taking a closer look at eating habits and food-form modifications.
